So not in the mood

to blog. C has been sick for a week and a half now, battling flu and now bronchitis. It is really all my fault. The flu started with me and spread to my dear C. This is the first time he is very sick. It is a terrible two weeks. I was sick and tired and before I was well, C was sick and so I was sick, tired and had to take care of a sick infant. Now, it is RH and the maid's turn.

I did not realize that the flu is so severe. Now, C's cough and cold is all gone but he still has bronchitis aka phlegm in his chest. The PD prescribed nebulizer and medicine. It was tough getting C to take all his meds. Each time is a crying session. The weird thing is, he only cries when he is taking meds from the PD which is supposedly sweet and yet he takes his bitter chinese med without a fuss. I can't resist posting the picture below of him taking his chinese med. You can see him wincing from the bitterness but he does not cry and even opens his mouth when the spoon comes.

Well, not everything was bad, C has learned to flip both ways, scream out loud and respond to his name while he was sick. Now, he is just tumbling all over......hehehe

Time flies.... (on a rocket ship)

Time flies....(on a rocketship). C is already 6 months now. He can sit up without support pretty well. Above is a video of him eating his baby bites. I think biting biscuits and bottle teats brings him comfort. He cries when he finishes his biscuits or milk.

Then again, it might just be that he is really hungry or just plain greedy. Added apples and sweet potatoes to his solids.... He just loves them so much.

My baby is growing too fast. :P

Been wanting to take C for a studio photo shoot before he grows out of his cuteness. I have shortlisted to the following 3 companies. The others do not have any nice baby pictures.

Which one should I go for? I like the first one most but of course, he is the most expensive one too. Hehehe, let's just say that I have expensive taste.

PS: He can't fit into his bumbo sitter anymore

Dear Dear,

I have not posted for so long, I kinda not know what to post anymore. Its been a very very tiring week for me with deadlines at work everyday. Only today, have I finally gotten a breather.

Going for haircut tomorrow, since, my hair loss seems to be better already.

On baby front, C now loves to touch his feet while in a lying down position and he is finally showing signs of wanting to flip over. Hopefully, he will flip soon.......hahaha! He is teething again and so he has been in a awful cranky mode these couple of days.
Oh yes, so far, he has eaten carrots, papaya, banana, avocados, spinach and brown rice porridge.

Slacker Mummy Reporting for Duty

I have been extremely busy up to my neck. YES! This two weeks have been rather crazy. There are just soooo many things at work that I could not even witness my baby's first banana feed.
What has happened between my last post and now?

1. We went out to with my best friend and her boyfriend WITHOUT the maid.
2. C has had his first solid: Brown Rice Cereal
3. Then His Second: Carrots with Brown Rice Cereal
4. Then His Third: Mashed Banana
5. C has learned how to hold his feet while lying on his back
6. C has begun to reach out for things

I got toof

C got his first tooth today. His left lower front tooth has broken through the gums and the right tooth is starting to show through. C has been rather cranky these 2 nights, waking up almost every hour, giving his parents a pair of matching Panda eyes.

Being first time parents, we did not know what is wrong with him. But I did suspect that he was teething. Not only was he drooling rivers, he was also constantly trying to chew on things. These 2 nights, he awoke only to calm down after I put the pacifier in his mouth. He must be feeling rather itchy.

I was kinda anticipating his teeth to be coming out soon as I heard from my friends and MIL that some babies start to grow teeth as soon as they are 4 months old. But C's mummy, aka me, forgot to check his lower teeth, thinking that his upper teeth should be showing first. Boy, was I wrong. Babies grow their lower teeth first then their upper teeth and the rest will come along and he should have all 20 baby teeth by the time he reaches 3.

Yeah, I did not do my "teething" reading. Hehehe! Anyways, I am so excited about C's teeth. Next comes teething toys, toothbrush, solids.....etc etc

PS: Tried to take a picture of his tooth this morning but his tongue was covering it. Maybe next time.

Sichuan Earthquake

Recently, Asia has had its spate of bad luck with two natural disasters almost occuring consecutively. It is really sad to read or hear about the victims and survivors from the Myanmar Cyclone and the Sichuan Earthquake, so now I have basically stopped reading the newspaper on these two events. I would even change the channel if the news on TV starts to report on these two events.

All the updates I get are through other people's conversations. The reason why I do not follow the news about these two natural disasters is not because I do not care but really because the stories of these victims and survivors are all so heart wrenching.

Stories how a pregnant lady from the Sichuan Earthquake was rescued after 170 hours and delivered the baby as soon as she was rescued or the story about a Chinese lady who left her baby at home to travel to Sichuan so that she can help to feed the countless orphaned babies in Sichuan or even another story of the discovery of kindergarden children still with crayons in their hands. Just relaying stories like these around the dinner table is enough to make me imagine the pictures vividly and cause me to wrench in pain. Maybe it is because I am still breastfeeding and all the pregnancy hormones have not cleared but really, these stories are enough to make me cry.

The stories surrounding little children are the worst to bear. I think being a mother just makes you more vulnerable. In each situation, I imagine "what if it was C" and immediately, I cannot bear it. I would rather die than have to see C go through what these Sichuan children went through. Everyday, we worry about things or accidents that could happen to our children. You can start to drive extra careful or not go on holidays to disaster prone areas or even check and re-check the locks on your doors but seriously, you can never never fully truly protect your little ones.

So parents then have to go crazy worrying about your children. Well, reading Stormie Ormartian's book about praying for your children, she says that we have to trust God to take care of our children. Yes, as human beings, we can never guard our children 24 hours a day but God can. He can protect our children when we are not able to. So, we ought to start praying and trusting God that He could AND would protect our children because they are His creation and children too. He loves them as much as we do or maybe even more than we do.

Of course, knowing the truth and acting upon it is two separate things. It is hard to let go of your possesions to God, how much harder is it then to let go of your children to God? It is definitely a challenge for me in this area as I am a natural worrier. If RH does not call to let me know that he will be home late, I would be frantic, trying to call him upteen times just to make sure he is ok. I might even drive to his company in the middle of the night just to find him and see for myself. But each time I panic, I have to consiously remind myself that God is in control and He loves me and C (and RH).

Thank you Father for Your love and faithfulness so that we can trust You always always.

13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;

Little Mr. Bumbo

Tried out the Bumbo seat on C yesterday! Here is a picture of him in his throne albeit not a clear photo. I will try to take another picture tonight. His thigh barely made it into the seat cos it is too thick. Hahahaha!

{C on his aqua Bumbo Seat}
C got quite a handful of stuff from Grandma when she came back from USA. Here is a chicken bib that Grandma brought back. Hihihi!
