Mr. Botak

C is finally one month old. It has been a rather long month for me but once Jan 25th arrives, I feel that C is just growing too fast. I wish he would grow slower so that I can enjoy all his wonderful cuteness. Soon, he would be able to crawl, then walk and talk.......

Its customary for babies in our family to have their heads shaved on their first month. Yes, no matter if the baby is a she or he. Anyways, mom, dad, grandparents all came early that morning and dad had the honor of shaving C. The honor used to be my grandma's until she is too old to weld a shaving knife so its dad with the electric razor now. Hey, you gotta keep up with times.

DSLR

I am sooooo saving money to get a DSLR. I was fooling around with Dad's Nikon D70 and even with my poor photography or rather zero photography skills, the pictures that I took had much better results than my dummy camera. Yeah, my dummy camera is not quite the la de la creme of cameras, I know. It is really time to upgrade especially since I have a new subject to take pictures of. Here are some pictures of my new subject using the Nikon D70.......

1 more week to go

Yipee, today is Thursday.....one more week to end of confinement. After that, I am free to do most everything. Bathe 3 times a day, drink tea (my favorite beverage), eat junk food, eat sushi, go out, get haircut....blah blah blah.

Why did I say most everything instead of everything. Well, I still can't go out for long as I need to pump regularly and may I say, I need to take care of bb and bringing him all over the place before he is even 3 months old is just too taxing and not to mention dangerous. Imgaine all the viruses out there.

Babies change

They change so much during the first two weeks that I have taken a picture everyday for the first two weeks of C's life so that he will know what he looked like when he was born. Look below to see the difference.

{Caleb on his first day home}

{C @ 17 days}

I think the main difference is in his cheeks. Although still chubby, his cheeks are not as flabby. It just seems like he took a trip to the plastic surgeon and gotten himself a botox.

**********

C has been having problems falling asleep these couple of days due to wind problems. Ya, mom says that some babies burp really fast and some take longer. C happens to be the baby that takes longer. Sometimes up to half hour and it certainly disturbs his sleep. Babie are not able to pass out gas or burp as easily as adults due to their immature digestive systems so we have to help them burp after feeding by patting their backs or else they would feel very very uncomfortable. Imagine trying to sleep after drinking 10 glasses of rootbeer.

So, he has been keeping us up most nights unlike those days when he would fall asleep right after feeding. Even when he eventually goes to sleep, he might wake half hour later needing another burp.

Anyways, because of this, he has turned into a light sleeper, always fidgeting at night. So, he will start out like this:

And end up like this:

Confinement Woes

I HATE confinement. I think it is definitely the worse part of the whole pregnancy/parenting thing. I see people breezing through their confinement period and I wonder how they made it. While I love being pregnant, I hate confiment to the core.

For one, I am now one smelly dirty woman. Yes, I get to bathe once a day which is more than most women get during confinement but it is just not enough in our weather especially when you are always in a "warm enough" room for baby. Plus, the water is some sort of herb boiled water. It is a blackish colour and smells awful but at least is not sticky. I am soooo gonna bathe 3 times a day after confinement. Its hard to even stick to the once a week shampoo now. Wish I can wash hair more often but for the sake of my future health, better endure if I can.

Secondly, I am sooooo sick of confinement food. Its always the same food and flavor and it always comes in huge huge portions which you are expected to finish. My goodness, I am eating for 2 people even though the other one is sleeping beside me instead of inside me. No cold drinks, no tea, no cold anything..........and in this hot weather.......

Thirdly, I am forever feeding or pumping out milk. Because I need to establish a steady supply of breastmilk for baby and because he refuses to latch on. It is feeding time then 1 hour later, pumping time, then 1 hour later, feeding time and so on......and the milk actually gets kinda messy during pumping time as it sometimes leak all over the place and dries sticky. Latching on is still best. For my second baby, I will teach him to latch on as soon as possible.

That comes to the fourth point, between feeding and pumping, I am highly sleep deprived. Yes, most days, I look like a zombie. Really gotta start training my maid to feed baby.

Oh well, gotta go..........baby duties await me once more.

Umbilical Stump

His umbilical stump came off yesterday. Everyone says that I should have kept it, but they all happen to say it AFTER I have thrown the awful black color stump. If there is anything that I should keep, don't you think these people should have informed me earlier? *Haiz*

Passport Picture

We are in the process of getting Caleb his passport. Yes, there are so many things to do for an Indonesian Singapore PR. First, you need to register his Singapore birth and get a Singapore Birth Certificate. Then you need the Singapore Birth Certificate to get an Indonesian Birth Certificate and then you need that to get an Indonesian Passport which you need to obtain to apply for Singapore Permanent Resident. Sounds complicated right!

I wanted to upload his passport picture but I can't seem to do it properly as the picture was edited in photoshop.
