Cravings........

Funny how I don't have any really strong cravings.....most of the time, there are more "dislike" food than "like" food for me.
Yup, food that I love, now the thought of it makes me sick. Food that I did not love, I still do not love. I think RH should be thankful that I don't make him go out and buy food in the middle of the night because of some pregnancy craving. Hahahaha.

However, I do feel that I have increased appetite for these food (just cos I can't eat other food):

  • Fried stuff
  • Curry stuff
  • Peanutty stuff (like satay gravy, pecel and gado2)
  • Sour stuff (vinegar, lemon, lime, orange juice....)

Yeah.....fish is now a no-no.....I use to think that I can just force myself to eat healthy food even though I do not feel like eating it but the distaste for food during pregnancy is just so strong that you are unable to overcome it. Haiz! At least morning sickness are a thing of the past.

12 weeks and 3 days......

My first trimester is almost over. Boy, am I glad. The morning sickness and loss of appetite is almost all gone. Can't wait till I am 13 weeks plus which is suppose to be when the critical stage is over.

I am also very much looking forward to finding out bb's gender. Hurray! Tomorrow I am going for my OSCAR test. Frankly speaking, there are so many pregnancy test, I am confused but I will just follow what my gynae suggested. Hopefully, I am able to know bb's gender tomorrow or else I gotta just wait till I am 4 mths.

Yesterday.....

was the first time I saw Bakong move......yeah....

I almost cried and shouted "Soooo cute" but for the fact that if I did, the nurse and gynae will probably think I am crazy and blacklist me forever.

Yep, Bakong is 10 weeks and 3 days old, 3.63cm and totally adorable. Yikes, it might seem like a totally mushy thing to say but experienced mothers will probably understand the feeling.

Last week, Bakong was only 2.2cm and just a round blob with a slightly enlarged end which the doc say is his head. The gynae mentioned that Bakong moved last week but I'm not so sure. Was it the scan moving?

Anyways, Bakong definitely moved yesterday cos I can see his little hands and legs moving in contrast to his head and body........soooo cute!!!! Hehehehe!

Also, I have decided on baby names.....I know it is a bit soon but I was worried that the morning sickness was gonna bug me till the end so I thought I would not have much time to think of baby names. Sooooo, if...

Girl Bakong: Cleo
Boy Bakong: Caleb

Still trying to convince RH that Caleb is a nice name though.....hahaha! Hmm, it also occured to me that both names happen to start with "C". :-) Oh well, luckily the MS is subsiding and I feel so much better and so much more energetic. Thank God the spotting and bleeding went away.

Babi + Kingkong = ???

It is amazing how much pregnancy changes your physical body. I have often heard of how some women are just plagued by morning sickness or how their appetites turn a 180 deg. I have always heard these stories with a pinch of doubt. I always imagine being pregnant to be fun.
It was not until now that I know how true and terrible those stories are. Yep, I think I have all the symtoms that any pregnant lady could have.

  1. Morning Sickness and Nausea
Surprisingly, it hits me not in the monring but rather in the afternoon and lasts all the way through the evening. You get nausea when you are hungry, when you are too full, when you smell food or things that makes you puke (for me, its fish). Even pictures of fish dishes in cookbooks invite a wave of nausea.
  2. Going to toilet frequently
Yeah, i am visiting the toilet every half hour to pee unless I stop drinking
  3. Sensitive Breast
A little tender and sore now
  4. Fever or elevated temperature
Mom says it has to do with the baby, I am not so sure as I have never come across any written symtoms like this but yeah, I am having mild fever daily.
  5. Faster Heartbeat
Sometimes, I feel like I am hyperventilating although it is getting better now.
  6. Sleepiness
Really had it bad during week 5 and 6 but am much better now. Can't really tell anyways cos I am having so much bedrest recently.
  7. Gas buildup, bloating.
I am constantly burping specially after a heavy meal and it is definitely not pretty.
Oh well, the symtoms are definitely getting better. Am looking forward to the second trimester when the symtoms are supposedly less.

Went to the gynae yesterday and heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time. It is only 1.16cm but we can make out a definite heartbeat, at least it is not just a sac anymore.

BTW, me and RH nicknamed it Bakong.........yeah, its not a pretty nickname and you must think we are horrible parents for naming him dat. It just came about one day while we were talking about the baby. RH calls me BABI sometimes instead of my name and I call him KINGKONG. So, Babi + King Kong = Bakong...........hahahahaha.

Sorry bb, we promise to give you a better name when you are born.

Julian's First Month

My sis had her first month for her second baby last week and we had to make her first month cakes ourselves so me and my sister SY baked and baked and printed and measured and printed and measured and packed and packed...I think you get the picture.

Actually, to give her credit, she did like 75% of the work while I was just a slacker due to my morning sickness and all......

Well, here are our results, not fantastic but pretty good for the first try.

{Bottom Layer from left: Green Tea Tiramisu, Mini White Chocolate Chip Cupcakes. Mini Oreo Cheese Tarts, Mini Panna Cotta and Coffee Gelee}

Sick.....

Its been a long time. I have been sick. Spotting and having fevers.........

This has not been a smooth pregnancy for me but I ought to trust in God that He will see this pregnancy through. I have to say that this is really not a good time for me to be sick.....for obvious reasons..... so I have been feeling rather down and stressed lately, worying about the little one and hoping that he is strong. Yes, I have decided to call my baby a "he" until proven otherwise because:
  1. I prayed for a bb boy
  2. San shu (chinese physician) says its a boy
It has been especially worrying for me cos firstly I am a worrier and also this being my first pregnancy, I really dunno what is normal and what is not. Anyways, when I last went to the gynae, I could see his heartbeat, just a little blinking dot and also hear it when the doc enhanced the sound. Beating really fast and regular so I guess he is on track. Have to remember my folic acid and milk.......

Knocked Up.....

The lack of updates is definitely due to a whole lot of reasons......
  1. Left for Japan for 2 weeks seminar
  2. Came back with flu and tons of work piled up, thus no time to update
  3. Old laptop was sick for a long time with no workable keyboard
  4. Unexpected news of being pregnant and having to deal with all the morning sickness
Yep......life has been kinda hectic the past few weeks. However, the baby is totally exciting news. It will be our first born and we are hoping it will be a boy (although I personally like gals) but my in laws and husband are just traditionalists.

We have been trying for 1mth and a half...kinda miss the first month cos RH was in Sydney and did not quite make it for the fertility period. Its been a roller coaster ride since we found out about the baby.

Even its conception was truely amazing. And calculations determine that the baby was "Made in Japan".

HOW DID WE KNOW?

Actually, I was totally expecting my period to come this month (cos I was feeling moody and temperamental, always a sign of PMS) and was feeling kinda down because our "efforts" did not bear fruit.

I went for a ministry training in church one Saturday morning and there was ministry praying for each of the volunteers. When I was being prayed for, I experienced a tingling feeling and God telling me to speak up for Him. I think He has been hinting to me since last year but I was not sure and unwilling to go out of my comfort zone. It is quite sad how little I have spoken about God to friends and families that I know aren't Christians.

Anyways, after the praying session, the minister encouraged us to share our experiences while we were prayed for. A lady (from previous experience, I knew she had the gift of vision) came forward to share and asked if someone was praying for a baby. I knew it was referring to me. I was totally shocked.

I came up to her afterward and confessed that I was the person she was asking about. She told me in detail about her vision of seeing a fetus formed and we prayed together. I felt at that time that I might be pregnant and even told RH on dat day itself. Although we were both so curious and anxious to know, I knew that it was too early to even apply the home pregnancy test. As my anxiety grew with each waiting day, doubts also began to crept into my mind. "Maybe the vision was for someone else" "Maybe it is not me"......

I asked God for another sign and if it comes, I will truely believe that I was pregnant. The very next night, God gave me the sign. I was eatting dinner as usual, with more appetite that usual actually. After dinner ended, I was strolling in Vivocity when I suddenly felt a very strong urge to puke......puke out my whole dinner, I did.

Dat night I decided to apply a HPT. I could not wait any longer, if it was negative so be it but I had to know. I tested positive that very night. It was just one day pass my period.

PRAISE BE TO GOD INDEED and I know that this baby is a gift from God and will be protected by Him........I a now sharing this story to more and more people as I believe this is what God wants and hopes that it will encourage your walk with God
